After winning their second series against the Red Sox and loosing their last game of the series, the yanks lost their opening game of a four game set wit the tigers by the score of 5-4.  Former Yankee farmhand Austin Jackson, who was traded during the of season for injured Curtis Granderson was also in the starting lineup as the lead off batter.  Starting pitcher Sergio Metre was on the hill for Andy Pettite who missed his start due to a sore shoulder.  After giving up two early runs, Metre settled down to the bombers in the game.  Down 3-2, the heating up Mark Teixeira hit a 2-run home run to cut the Tigers lead to one.  Another former Yankee joined in as Johnny Damon hit a home run to make the Tigers 5-2.  The biggest rally the Yankees had was in the 8Th when the yanks had the basses loaded with no body out.  Flame throwing rightly Joel Zumiya got out of it with only two runners crossing the plate while constantly hitting 100 mph plus with his great fastball.  I mean this guy was just throwing straight up gas, and when i say gas i mean gas.  I wish this guy was on the Yankees bull pen instead if Joba Chamberlain right now.  I hope that we are just going through growing pains with this pitcher.  In 2007 when he first came up, i thought he was going to be the next Cy Young, really i did!  But ever since the yankees messed with his head between starter in reliver his vilocity just hasent just been the same.  Now that Joba knows his role on the team hopefully he can pitch better.  Lets hope so!
