Yesterday was a very good day if you would consider yourself a new york Yankees fan!  We got two for the price of one!  Due to tuesdays suspended game against the Twins, the yanks were going to finish the game picking up right were they left off in the fifth inning.  Perhaps the most exciting inning of them a all was in the sixth.  During the top of the sixth inning the captain Derek Jeter it his first home run in about a month.  Thought it was a solo shot, it was more than enough to propell a Yankees victory.  The great closer Mariano Revira closed things out for a yankees 1-0 victory.  This was good for Mo considering he went nearly two weeks before he appeared in one game!  Oh but just when you thought the yankees day was done and you were to go on with your day, what another game?  Thats right the game they just finished was from yesterday, they still have to play todays game rite!  So they did.  It was a stealler matchup between two starting pitchers in Andy Pettite and the seemingly resurgent Francico Lariano.  While both pitchers pitched in the seventh inning with Pettite pitching eight the score was tied at two.  During the eighth inning with Andy pitching he allowed the first two runners to reach base.  With runners on first and third, pettite caught a line drive off of stud catcher Joe Mauer for a out.  Then he made the slugging Justin Mornou to hit into a double play with a pumped up Pettite swinging his fists in excitement.  In the top of the ninth inning the stage was set.  Nick swisher hit a absolute bomb to right field to give the yankees a one run lead.  For the second time today Mo got the save for the yankees.  As John Sterling would say, "Ballgame over.  Yankees win.. Theeeeeeee yankees win!!!!"

It has finally happened. The Yankees have been swept the first time this season by the hands of the Tampa Bay Rays. Though it was a two game sweep, it defanatly counts as far as the standings are concerned. The slumping yanks are now five games out of the AL East race and will almost certainly fall in this weeks power rankings. Up next for us however will be the cellar dwelling Mets! (YES!!!) If were playing the Mets, this means interleauge is comming up, which means were going to feast on the terrible NL teams!!! At least there is a ray of hope for the bombers but they will still have to work hard if they want to return into the world champions they were back in 2009. Meanwhile across town those Mets are in last place in the NL east and are chasing the Nationals ??? Even though the nats Nats are a much improved team from there god awful team back in 09, just hearing that sounds almost too good to be true! I mean god. Can you believe that Sports Illustrated actually picked the Mets to win the World Serise last year? That has to be the worst pridiction that those boys have ever made in their lifetimes! Not even their best hitter in David Wright is doing what he needs to do for this team to succeed. It seems as if Their new ballpark Citi Field has scared the living Crap out of every one who steped foot into it ecept if you are a player with the letter P next to his player profile.

The banged up yanks are struggling once again. Last nights 10 to 6 loss to the red... and i mean red hot Tampa Bay Rays showed just how bad the Yankees starting and relief pitching has been lately. The slumping A.J. Burnett struggled through six and two thirds innings of work while giving up six earned runs. By surprise, the yanks hitting did not fare so bad while letting six runs cross the plate. This comes as a surprise because of the fact they have four players from their opening day line up sitting out due to injury's. The longest of them all might very well be the ALWAYS injured nick Johnson as he tries to be playing on the field again by July at the earliest. Just when u think that things couldn't get any worse for those Yankees, well what do ya know? Another injury! Starting catcher Jorge Poaoada has been place on the 15 day DL with a hair line fracture on his foot. I mean who are we the 2009 Mets? I prey to god that that will not be the case. If that is in fact the case, the Yankees might as well pack up the bags and head to their houses worth millions of dollars because the Rays are not going away and even though they are struggling, i think that we all know the the Redsox will be there at the end like they always are Every year. The bombers better get things together and fast if they don't want the AL East to be out of reach before we even hit the dog days of August!

Yesterdays  first game of a two game serise between the yankees and Redsox was by far one of the most exciting game for the yanks in the 2010 regular season.  With phil hughes on the mont the yankes were poised to take the first game against the depleted and slumping team that is the boston redsox.  The yankees came right out of the flood gate hot, scoring 5 runs in the bottom of the first inning.  All of this done with a shortened line up due to Nick Swisher out with an injury.  The slumping sox turned to the oft injured Diske Matsuzacka but struggled once again.  In my opinion they should send this guy down to the minors to get his tools all together.  The real drama in this began in the top of the sixth inning when J.D. Drew hit a grand slam on an 0-2 count to lessen the yankees lead to only six to five.  Things got even  worse for the yankees when The "Greek god of walks" Kevin Youlkils hit a two run home run to give the sox their first lead of the game.  Fans in the stadium were really starting to sweat when Victor Martinez joined in on the action with a solo home run of his own.  On to the bottom of the ninth inning.  Jonathan Palpobon who has struggled in recent years against the yankees led off the inning with a lead off double to the resurgent Brett Gardner.  Then what... Bang!!! It is high it is far, it is gone!!! A game tying two run homerun of the bat of A-Rod.  After a nother hit off the struggling closer.... Bang!!!.  It is high, it is far, it is gone!!!   Ball game over, Yankees win, THEEEEEEEE!!!!!, YANKEES WIN!!!!!

During Wednesday's night cap of the Yankees Tigers double header, Phil Hughes continued his complete Dominance if the American League. The young right hander tossed seven scoreless innings while striking out 8 Tiger hitters. Hughes is now 5 and 0 on what is turning out to be a Cy young winning season. Hard to believe that just in march he was competing for the number 5 spot in the yanks rotation with the seeming revived Joba chamberlain who in his new bullpen role was hitting 98 miles per hour on the gun. While it looked like Mariano Reveria will get his first appearance in a game in nearly two weeks, the Yankees scored 8 runs in the top of the ninth inning to end up winning the game by the same score. The first place Rays bet the A's so the bombers remain one and a half games out of first place.

Because of harsh weather conditions in Detroit, yesterdays Tigers Yankees game was rained out.  The two power hitting teams will be playing a double header today.  The first game will start in a few minutes, the second however will begin at around 7:05 pm.   The slumping Javy Vasquez will take the mound in the first game of the double dip as he hopes to turn his 2010 season after being the runner up to San-Frans Tim Lincuicum.  This is the second time around for Vasquez wearing the pin-stripes, in witch he gave up that forever famous home run in the 2004 ALCS.  So far this season it hasn't quite worked out for the Yankee starter.  Since the Rays lost to the A's last night, the Yankees are still a half game back of them with the red hot Blue Jays creeping up the AL east standings.  In the end though i believe that the Jays will be in their right full place of fourth place in the AL East standings just ahead of those like 8 win Orioles.  It seems as though every year there is at least one team that everyone expects to do god awful but they actually do pretty damn good.  They continue to do well until about early June when they win about six games for the whole month.  Last year we had the Padres, they actually did well for the first two months of the season.  Sure they ended up loosing like 95 games for the season but that's not the point.  Hey, at least they get like the second or third pick in this years up coming draft behind those god awful Nationals who are at .500 baseball.  This is a huge step forward for a club that averages 100 losses a season!

After winning their second series against the Red Sox and loosing their last game of the series, the yanks lost their opening game of a four game set wit the tigers by the score of 5-4.  Former Yankee farmhand Austin Jackson, who was traded during the of season for injured Curtis Granderson was also in the starting lineup as the lead off batter.  Starting pitcher Sergio Metre was on the hill for Andy Pettite who missed his start due to a sore shoulder.  After giving up two early runs, Metre settled down to the bombers in the game.  Down 3-2, the heating up Mark Teixeira hit a 2-run home run to cut the Tigers lead to one.  Another former Yankee joined in as Johnny Damon hit a home run to make the Tigers 5-2.  The biggest rally the Yankees had was in the 8Th when the yanks had the basses loaded with no body out.  Flame throwing rightly Joel Zumiya got out of it with only two runners crossing the plate while constantly hitting 100 mph plus with his great fastball.  I mean this guy was just throwing straight up gas, and when i say gas i mean gas.  I wish this guy was on the Yankees bull pen instead if Joba Chamberlain right now.  I hope that we are just going through growing pains with this pitcher.  In 2007 when he first came up, i thought he was going to be the next Cy Young, really i did!  But ever since the yankees messed with his head between starter in reliver his vilocity just hasent just been the same.  Now that Joba knows his role on the team hopefully he can pitch better.  Lets hope so!
